LEWIS SCHOENBERG
Lewis played high school basketball at Las Lomas, serving as team captain his senior season and leading his team to a birth into the CIF state championship tournament. After graduating high school Lewis knew he wanted to pursue a career in being a basketball coach. So, despite being admitted to both CAL and UCLA, he opted to instead attend UC Santa Barbara, where he was guaranteed a position as a student assistant under legendary coach Joe Pasternak.
Lewis had the pleasure of serving at UCSB at a time when Coach Pasternak's team went 23-9, marking the biggest turnaround in the history of D1 basketball. The team followed that up with a 22-10 record the following year. AS a student assistant, Lewis got to work up close and personal with highly talented and competitive D1 players and coaches.
As luck would have it, being involved with the Santa Barbara team meant that Lewis got to spend his summers working with NBA players who came in town to train at the world famous P3 training facility located just a few miles from UCSB's Campus. This included assisting in workouts for the likes of Luka Doncic, Josh Richardson, Kyle Korver, Mathew Dellavedova, Grant Williams, Allonzo Trier, Stanley Johnson, Thon Maker and many more. This environment provided him with an incredible opportunity to hone his training skills.
Since graduating with a BA in Philosophy, Lewis has dedicated every waking moment to the game. He has coached at three different high schools, including Las Lomas, Northgate and Acalanes and has also coaches at the grassroots level, assisting with ASA and Prime Basketball.
